B'nei Mitzvah Clergy Team

There is a famous African proverb which teaches that it takes a village to raise a child. At Temple Beth Am, we understand it takes a congregation to make a Bar/Bat Mitzvah journey possible! Our shared goal is to celebrate a sacred moment in the life of a young adult and his/her family. Below is a “who’s who” on your B’nei Mitzvah journey. The clergy team members are your primary spiritual guides through the B’nei Mitzvah experience and are here as resources when the need arises.

Rabbi Alon will meet regularly with the student in the four months leading up to B’nei Mitzvah. He will guide the student through the D’var Torah writing process, helping the student study the text, and answering challenging questions. Cantor Marcy Morris is your contact during the Bar/Bat mitzvah preparatory phase. She facilitates the educational plan to prepare the prayers, Torah and Haftarah chanting. She also supervises the tutoring effort and answers questions about the flow of the ceremony and specific roles at the Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
