Power of People in Education:
Staff:
The single most significant factor in the development and well-being of children is access to responsive, skilled, loving adults. Our program offers a highly qualified, experienced, caring and nurturing staff which has solid knowledge in child development theory and practice. All staff members are required to participate in annual ongoing professional development training, courses and programs. All staff is screened by the state and is subject to FBI background checks. All staff members undergo annual physical examinations and regular testing for tuberculosis. Each staff member is trained in infant and children’s First Aid and CPR. All teaching staff and volunteers participate in an initial orientation to our school program. Annual end of the year or back-to-school staff meetings assess and review the handbooks as well as address any new policies.
Leadership and management:
All teaching staff is trained in using ethical guidelines in their conduct as members of the early childhood profession. Each teacher is required to sign a statement of commitment after their training. An essential factor contributing to staff quality is our use of the team approach. Teachers meet weekly by grade-level and also monthly as a full staff to plan, coordinate and evaluate program activities.
Ratio of teachers to children:
The number of teachers to children is another essential factor in delivering quality care to young children. Having more teachers provides better supervision and individualized care but also a great variety of personality types.
