Shavuot Program
Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 10:00am
Yizkor Service followed by a Dairy Brunch and Torah Study
Join Temple Beth Am for Shavuot, the Jewish festival marking the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Traditionally, dairy dishes are served on this holiday to symbolize the sweetness of the Torah, as well as the "land of milk and honey".
Yizkor Services are done 4 times a year: the last day of Passover, Shavuot, Yom Kippur and Shemini Atzeret. This special Service is our way of remembering and praying for our departed loved ones. The Yizkor prayers are only permitted to be recited in the presence of others, in a community of other Jews. If you have loved ones who have passed away and you wish to say Yizkor for them, then please join us on May 19th for this Service and stay for the dairy brunch and Torah study.
