Youth Groups * General YAD Information

Temple Beth Am’s Youth Activities Department (YAD) has something for every middle school and high school student plus something for those religious school students in grades 3 through 5. Activities range from social, religious, cultural, to social action, and all are designed to provide Jewish young people with a way to stay connected to their Judaism through their b’nai mitzvah and beyond. Youth programs provide younger members of the congregation with fun, educational, and social opportunities in a Jewish context!

Megan Usow is our new Youth Activities Director beginning August 2009.

JAMTY
Temple Beth Am’s senior youth group, JAMTY, is open to all teens in ninth through twelfth grades. JAMTY has two events a month such as beach parties, walk-a-thons, lock-ins and much more! JAMTY is affiliated with NFTY, the North American Federation of Temple Youth, the organization for youth groups in the Reform Movement. We are part of NFTY-STR (Southern Tropical Region). Teens from all over the STR get together for conventions a few times a year. These intense, incredible weekends teach leadership skills as well as connect teens and youth groups from throughout the region.

JAMTY Jr.
Temple Beth Am’s junior youth group, JAMTY Jr., is open to all youth in sixth through eighth grade. Featuring events such as lock-ins, lazertag, and visits to the water park, JAMTY Jr. is a great way for youth to stay connected to Judaism and to friends. NFTY holds a convention just for seventh and eighth graders in January called Hatikvah Kallah, which is a great opportunity for Jewish youth in middle school to meet others in the NFTY-STR region before going on to senior youth group. JAMTY Jr. is off to a great start and looking forward to more exciting events to come!

COCHAVIM
Hebrew for “stars” this youth group will allow students in grades 3-5 the opportunity to explore their surroundings. Fun and exciting monthly activities will give members the opportunity to spend time with their friends in a creative and fun Jewish environment.
