Safe HarborFIFTH GRADE SOCIAL ACTION PROJECT

Dear families of Temple Beth Am,
The 5th grade religious school class has decided to collect donations for Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary and Hospital for our Animal Social Action Project. We need your help!

Below is the list of items Safe Harbor needs. (You can click the Safe Harbor logo above to visit their website). Please bring them to our Light up Shabbat Service on February 10th. Our class is planning a visit by Safe Harbor after the donations are in, so they can collect them. They will also come to talk with us, bring an adopted dog for us to see and collect the items. The list below tells you specifically what they need. So please help us out and have your family collect a few items from family and friends and bring to services on February 10th. Religious School News from David Sherman, MJEd, Director of Education

February, 2012
Shalom!

By now you should have received your children’s progress reports (AKA report cards.) I am pleased to share that there is a lot of high-energy learning going on in our classrooms. The teachers report that there is a good deal of participation, with lots of questions being asked (always a good sign when students want to learn more…)

The teachers and I need your help to keep this momentum going. Over the next few months, there will be the usual tendency to think that the school year is (almost) over – but it isn’t! PLEASE, do what you can to continue to bring your children to all their classes, both Sundays and Tuesdays, so that they will get the most out of their lessons. Please also be sure to read the weekly email that your children’s teachers send home, and visit our TBA website and Facebook pages… often! These are great ways to keep up with the pulse of the classroom and other TBA goings on.

Here are a few highlights for this month’s calendar of Religious School events:

*February 10th: Camp Shabbat & Light Up Shabbat / Friday Night Live with Sheldon Low!

*February 12th: Celebrate the Birthday of the Trees - a Tu B’Shevat Learning Program for

Religious School Families (9:30 – noon @ Jonathan Dickinson State Park)

*February 19th: NO CLASSES, Presidents’ Day weekend

*February 19th: 12:30 – 2:30 ~ Meet Sylvia Rouss, author of Sammy the Spider (meet Sammy too!) Targeted for families with children pre-school – 2nd grade, but all are welcome!)

*February 26th: 6th Grade trip to Miami Jewish Museum and Holocaust Memorial

*March 3rd: Purim Celebration (see details elsewhere in this Scribe)

*March 4th: NO CLASSES (we’ll all be pooped out from partying at the Purim celebration!)

As always, please contact me with any questions, concerns, or compliments about the Religious School – we really do take your feedback into consideration. Also, if you would like to be more involved in the goings on in the Religious School, please give me a call and we can find ways of you sharing your talents & passions about Jewish Education and our children.

L’Shalom,   David
