Preschool Parent Teacher Organization
The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) of Temple Beth Am Preschool is a group of concerned and dedicated parents who are committed to enhancing and promoting the educational opportunities available for all children at our preschool. We work to accomplish this through promoting closer ties and fostering communication among parents, teachers and administration in order to achieve a feeling of community spirit. We provide curriculum and social enrichment activities and support to administration, teachers and staff. The PTO generates funds through membership dues and fundraisers. The PTO is open to all preschool parents and families, who are encouraged to become involved in any way they can.
PTO Objectives
- To assist parents, teachers and the preschool director by providing a forum for the regular exchange of reliable information concerning the spiritual, psychological, educational and physical development of the preschool children.
- fulfill its responsibilities as the extension of the parent.
- To provide a legitimate means for raising funds for the betterment of the preschool.
- To foster programs of parent education as a means of harmonizing the cultural
and religious values of the home with the teachings of the preschool.
- To provide social events where preschool parents can interact with other preschool parents and teachers.
PTO Contributions/ EventsEach year the PTO raises money for the preschool through its various fundraisers, which have included: luncheon & silent and live auctions; book fairs; holiday fairs; and various sales of items. The PTO donates or uses the money to benefit the preschool and temple, with a goal of enriching and supplementing the curriculum and the basic needs of the school. Contributions and sponsored programs to date include: supplementing special programs (ex/ music, science- High Touch- High Tech); playground shades; new classroom set-ups; books and materials; classroom equipment; social events (Sukkot and Chanukah parties, ice cream socials, park play dates, breakfasts, etc.); parent educational programs; items for teacher wish-lists; and teacher appreciation.
