PTO NEWS:

Temple Beth Am Preschool’s Parent Teacher Organization wishes everyone a Happy Chanukah. November was filled with wonderful events and excitement in our amazing Preschool.

On November 6, 2011, we held our annual Holiday Boutique which featured many new and returning vendors. We raised over $4,300.00!!! Endless hours went into the planning, setting up and helping at the event. Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers and their families. A special thank you to the following people who made the event possible:

· Brooke Pastor for overseeing all of the vendors and the event;
· The Baughman family and The RAM Group for designing the wonderful save-the-dates;
· Coffee News (Amy Labell and family) for advertising the event for us;
· Lisa Rubin and Hollywood Cupcake for putting on an amazing bake sale;
· Healthsource Chiropractic and Progressive Rehabilitation/Dr. Alyssa Kenyon for sponsoring this event;
· Duke Thrush (picstoposters.com) for the making the Holiday Boutique posters; and
· Alfredo for helping with the set up on Saturday and Sunday.

On November 21, 2011, we had our Head Start Thanksgiving Luncheon which was a fabulous event that deserves an article all to itself. We would like to thank Malinda Linkhorst and Jana Taylor, from our PTO, who organized the event. Thank you Stu Fierman for taking care of getting all the food to the Temple; Lisa Reuben and Holiday Cupcakes for donating the desserts; Jared Freedland for the gift bags for all the children and Laura Gambino for her generous donation. Thank you to all volunteers who helped plan, set up, complete activities with the children, serve food and clean up. And thank you Dotty Wisch for always being there to help with a smile.

December kicks off with our first Scholastic Book Fair. The kick-off event is Friday, December 9, 2011 at 8:15am with a special breakfast for the child, parents, grandparents and friends. The children are invited to come in their pajamas and are being asked to donate pajamas. The Book Fair will be open from Friday, December 9, 2011 through Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Thank you to Shana Dutkewych and Stacy Miller for running such an amazing program.

Our last Bake Sale of 2011 will be December 16, 2011 at pick up (or when the wonderful desserts sell out). Please join us in the Preschool lobby – the excitement on the children’s faces is a great way to start the weekend.

On a personal note, I would like to thank Paula Deakter for working so hard to make sure all of our children love coming to Preschool. Her dedication, love, encouragement and support to so many children and parents is appreciated every day. From our family to yours….THANK YOU and WE LOVE YOU!!!

Preschool Parent Teacher Organization

sun.gifThe Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) of Temple Beth Am Preschool is a group of concerned and dedicated parents who are committed to enhancing and promoting the educational opportunities available for all children at our preschool. We work to accomplish this through promoting closer ties and fostering communication among parents, teachers and administration in order to achieve a feeling of community spirit. We provide curriculum and social enrichment activities and support to administration, teachers and staff. The PTO generates funds through membership dues and fundraisers. The PTO is open to all preschool parents and families, who are encouraged to become involved in any way they can.

PTO Objectives

  1. To assist parents, teachers and the preschool director by providing a forum for the regular exchange of reliable information concerning the spiritual, psychological, educational and physical development of the preschool children.
  2. fulfill its responsibilities as the extension of the parent.
  3. To provide a legitimate means for raising funds for the betterment of the preschool.
  4. To foster programs of parent education as a means of harmonizing the cultural
    and religious values of the home with the teachings of the preschool.
  5. To provide social events where preschool parents can interact with other preschool parents and teachers.

PTO Contributions/ Events

Each year the PTO raises money for the preschool through its various fundraisers, which have included: luncheon & silent and live auctions; book fairs; holiday fairs; and various sales of items. The PTO donates or uses the money to benefit the preschool and temple, with a goal of enriching and supplementing the curriculum and the basic needs of the school. Contributions and sponsored programs to date include: supplementing special programs (ex/ music, science- High Touch- High Tech); playground shades; new classroom set-ups; books and materials; classroom equipment; social events (Sukkot and Chanukah parties, ice cream socials, park play dates, breakfasts, etc.); parent educational programs; items for teacher wish-lists; and teacher appreciation.
