We are very excited to let everyone know that the camp scholarship process for Summer 2012 has officially begun! As many of you already know, the Jewish Federation offers families two ways for their child(ren) to receive financial assistance for overnight Jewish summer camp. They are:
- One Happy Camper – The One Happy Camper grant is a $1,000 incentive grant for first time campers. The only requirements are that the camper live in the Jewish Federation’s service area (Boynton Beach through Vero Beach), be attending an approved overnight camp as listed on www.OneHappyCamper.org for three weeks or more for the first time, and they may not attend a private Jewish day school. To apply for a One Happy Camper grant go to www.OneHappyCamper.org.
- Need-Based Camp Scholarship – In addition to the One Happy Camper grant, families may also receive a need-based camp scholarship of up to $1500. To qualify for a need-based camp scholarship, the camper must be attending an approved overnight Jewish summer camp as listed on www.OneHappyCamper.org for three weeks or more, and the camper must live in the Jewish Federation’s service area (Boynton Beach though Vero Beach). To apply, have the camper fill out the attached scholarship application and mail the completed form with required additional documents to me no later than February 3, 2012.
P.S. Last year the Foundation for Jewish Camp unveiled the results of a study researching the long term impact of Jewish overnight camp on its alumni. In their study Camp Works, the FJC proved that overnight Jewish summer camp inspires a lifelong commitment to Judaism.
