My article is not as much an article as a thank you.
Thank you to all of you who have asked how come I haven’t had an article in the Scribe recently. There are a number of reasons including the fact that there is so much going on at the Temple that sometimes there is not enough room for just one more article and sometimes it’s because I haven’t had time to write something. The latter has been the case recently and leads me to my real reason for writing this thank you to my Temple family and friends. Thank you for all of the well wishes that were sent after my recent surgery and still now during my recuperation. Just knowing that someone cared enough and asked about me made me feel good and isn’t that part of the recovery process.
So here goes…thank you Rabbi Alon for listening to my babbling when I was in the hospital, even as I was talking I knew I wasn’t making much sense. Of course I would be remiss if I didn’t single out a few families who went above and beyond and brought food and cookies which were greatly appreciated… the Levkovitz family, the Deakter family, the Slifkin family, the Rubin family plus of course my husband, parents and sister. If I have forgotten anyone who brought food I blame it on the anesthesia.
Also, thank you to Gali for bringing Yoni over to make me smile and for calling to make sure I was okay and that I was really taking care of myself.
An extremely special thank you to my fellow staff members Margot, Debbie, Carol, Sara, David, Joey, Paula and Jan who kept asking what they could do when they didn’t even realize they were already doing it by just asking. So for me this is a lesson worth remembering, that sometimes all it takes is a few seconds and a kind word to make someone feel better and feel that they matter. In our busy lives we forget but those 2 or 3 sentences may mean the world to someone else.
Healthy, Happy, Prosperous and Joyful New Year to each and every one of you!
